Dr. Austin Stanforth


Dr. Austin Stanforth is serving as a Distance Education, online Adjunct Faculty at Unity College, as well as a Lecturer of Geography at Ferris State University. Austin received his Ph.D. in Applied Earth Sciences and MS in Geographic Information Science from Indiana University in Indianapolis, as well as his BA in Anthropology from Butler University.

His interests involve the application of Geospatial Analysis and Remote Sensing for Epidemiological and One Health research topics. This involves the study of Public and Environmental Health, specifically focusing on vulnerability modeling. Previous and ongoing research includes climate and environmental influences on local populations during extreme weather events, invasive species, and disease vector modeling. Having worked on multiple NASA ROSES grants and internship programs, Austin has significant real-world experience in applying GIS and Cartographic disciplines outside the classroom.
