Dr. Benjamin Hooks

Instructor of Environmental Science

Dr. Hooks received a Ph.D. and M.S. in Geosciences from the University of Maine and BS in Geology from Allegheny College. He has  experience teaching numerous courses including  Mineralogy, Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Geophysics, Structural Geology, Soil Analysis and Field Methods in Geology. His research has focused on plate tectonics and growth of the continental crust in a variety of current and ancient active plate boundaries, including Maine, southern California, and Alaska. In addition to academia, Dr. Hooks has extensive experience in industry, working as a geologist in the environmental and geotechnical fields and he is a registered Professional Geologist in multiple states.
