Dr. Max Polyak

DVM, Instructor of Animal Health and Behavior

Dr. Polyak earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern California, and later attended graduate school at Cambridge University, and veterinary school at the University of Florida, where he also undertook intensive training in Aquatic Animal Medicine. He has practiced and taught marine animal medicine and conservation to veterinary and marine biology students in Costa Rica, Belize, the Maldives, Ecuador and Thailand. Dr. Polyak served as the Medical Director of Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary, the largest new world primate sanctuary in North America, and is currently collaborating on a new Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Centre Alliance, based in the Maldives, which will facilitate growth of and provide sea turtle rehab facilities around the world with specialized veterinary expertise. Dr. Polyak also served as founding veterinarian and trustee of the Sea Turtle Hospital at the University of Florida and currently serves as staff veterinarian at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, FL. He is also widely published in the veterinary and human medical literature, frequently serves as a consultant to biotech firms and is courtesy faculty in the surgery department at the School of Medicine at UF. In his free time, he enjoys surfing and yoga.
