Dr. Tanya Lubansky

Instructor of Marine Biology

Dr. Tanya Lubansky is an Adjunct Distance Instructor. Lubansky received her B.S. in Environmental Sciences at Wheaton College and her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution at Rutgers University. Her research focuses  on quantifying individual movement behavior and social networks of humpback whales within the Gulf of Maine. Her field work was conducted in collaboration with Allied Whale, a nonprofit organization within College of the Atlantic of Bar Harbor, ME. She has worked with Allied Whale for over a decade and now serves as a Research Associate, coordinating summer field season research and intern programs. Through her experiences, Dr. Lubansky has developed a clear passion for education and has focused much of her professional career to bring both enthusiasm and research to diverse learning platforms. Beyond research and education, the ocean is also a major part of Tanya’s personal life- she is a competitive offshore rower and has spent years living aboard her sailboat along coastal Maine.
